Termination of COBRA Coverage

A covered person’s coverage under COBRA will terminate on the earliest of:
  • The date on which the company ceases to provide a group health plan to any employee.
  • The date the covered person becomes covered under any other group health plan, if the new plan doesn’t limit coverage for any of the covered person’s pre-existing conditions.
  • The date the covered person becomes entitled to Medicare benefits.
  • The date the covered person fails to make any monthly payment.
  • The end of the applicable 18-, 29- or 36-month period.

You or your spouse must notify the plan within 60 days of a divorce or legal separation, or when a child ceases to be an eligible dependent. If you do not do this, your COBRA rights will be lost.
