What is COBRA?

COBRA is the acronym for the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, which is a federal law that gives you and your covered eligible dependents (including children born or adopted during COBRA coverage), the right to purchase continued coverage under the current health care plan, if coverage would otherwise end because of a qualified event. You will have 60 days to make your election.  The length of continued coverage depends on the nature of the qualifying event.
